*Guwahati and NFRSA declared joint winners of Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy* Guwahati, June 8, 2025: Guwahati and North Frontier Railway Sports Association (NFRSA) were crowned joint winners of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy 2025 Senior Inter‑District Cricket Tournament, as the four-day final concluded in a draw at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday. Opting to field after winning the toss on Saturday, NFRSA made early inroads into the Guwahati batting line-up. Guwahati managed to post 211 all out in 91 overs in their first innings. Saahil Jain was the top scorer with a patient 58 off 148 deliveries, while opener Sumit Ghadigaonkar contributed a gritty 34 off 94 balls. NFRSA’s Swarupam Purakayastha starred with the ball, claiming a five-wicket haul (5/61), ably supported by Abhilash Gogoi (2/39). On the final day, NFRSA were at 145 for 8 in 85 overs when play ended, resulting in the match being drawn and the two sides declared joint champions. The highlight of NFRSA’s innings was a resilient knock by Sibsankar Roy, who remained unbeaten on 95 off 240 balls. Guwahati bowlers delivered a commendable performance, with Rohit Singh picking up 3 for 35, Abdul Aziz Kuraishi taking 2 for 15, and Kunal Sharma chipping in with 2 for 31. The tournament, organised by the Assam Cricket Association (ACA), saw its semifinals and final hosted by the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA). The final was contested in a traditional four-day format, giving players the platform to showcase their endurance and technical prowess.
